Panzerhund

This is a Panzerhund from the Bethesda era Wolfenstein games. I set out to render it using Blenders realtime render engine Eevee. It was interesting finding workarounds to create the desired look in eevee, lots of additional lights were needed to help give the illusion that the fire was lighting part of the robot. THis is in contrast to cycles that was lit using only the emission from the flame itself. Although when compared to cycles, eevee does not look as realistic, eevee still looks good in its own right. In my opnion people are more forgiving and look past unrealistic lighting and reflections if it looks good, and boy is it faster to render.

Cycles render, although i did not intend to use cycles on this project, it is interesting seeing the difference.

This is the final still rendered in eevee and graded in photoshop for that classic teal and orange look.

Never really worked with blenders workbench renderer. Might have to go back and have another look at some point.

As you can see it is made of very little individual objects.

And here is a view of all of the lights, light probes and simulation boxes to make the look.
